Concrete, a durable and long-lasting material, aligns with the architect’s ethos of creating structures that stand the test of time. The museum’s facade not only tells a visual story but also underscores the importance of responsible material choices in contemporary architecture. Walking on, one is not sure whether to enjoy the exhibitions first or the design of the building. Outside light comes in through the large windowpanes and the inner courtyard on the basement floor, with the concrete spaces lit up by spotlights that are placed here and there to highlight the individual exhibition pieces. Most of the exhibitions and workshops here focus on the theme of “everyday life,” and explore the often underappreciated world of design that is hidden in plain sight. 21_21 DESIGN SIGHT is a visionary space that celebrates and explores the innovation of design.
